Due to the overwhelming demand for sports history, Phil S. Dixon, a nationally renowned baseball historian is currently available for speaking engagements. A life-long sports enthusiast, Dixon has authored several publications including an award winning book entitled, The Negro Baseball Leagues, a Photographic History, 1863-1955. Dixon’s book won the Spitball’s Casey Award naming it, the best baseball of the year, and captured the SABR Mcmillan Research award for its groundbreaking historical depth.
Spring 2006, Dixon will introduce an innovative series of books entitled Phil S. Dixon’s American Baseball Chronicles® Volumes 1 to 10. As a premier collector of rare sports memorabilia for the past 30 years, Dixon has encountered a keen awareness of sports history throughout the country, and continues to pioneer the efforts of baseball history. He has provided historical insight on such televised programming as History Detective, Charlie Neal’s Sports Report, Teen Summit, and numerous Public Broadcasting Television specials.
Historian, author, speaker and entrepreneur, Dixon has proven to be a powerful speaker and motivator encouraging the expansion of baseball programs, and interest in its history throughout the country. His combination of anecdotes, historical facts, and knowledge of baseball intertwined with a resourceful knowledge of local history, provides an informative and thought provoking presentation. Additionally, Dixon is a charter member of the Board of Directors and currently serves on the Board of Regents for the Negro Baseball Leagues Museum in Kansas City, Missouri.
